Spent Saturday in Nice. i’m going to refrain from the obvious pun here.

My plane arrived at 7 AM. First stop: Colline du Chateau. The top of the hill yielded wonderful views of the La Baie des Anges. I saw some pretty cool remnants of what once must have been grand stone structures. I was kind of surprised to see so many cacti…wasn’t really expecting succulents in the mediterranean climate. While walking in la vieille ville, I stumbled upon a flower and produce market. I picked up some intensely red strawberries for breakfast.

I wanted to go hiking this weekend, but I had to work on my lab meeting/Whitaker presentation. Compromise: walk through the Lavaux vineards during my break. Brain is tired so just pictures today.

Poking around Europe

I haven’t posted for several weeks and the reason is…TRAVEL! Ang and I have been planning her visit since I found out about Whitaker last year. Back in January, she bought her plane ticket and we started planning our trip. Now, since it’s Ang, I knew it was bound to be a whirlwind tour, and yes it was. Before I give the recap, I want to introduce a verb Ang’s mom uses:
